Keswick District Nurse team leader Yvonne Henderson has sent a message of thanks to people living in the area for their actions in trying to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Mrs Henderson, who is in charge of seven other nurses on the Keswick and Solway Community Nursing Team, said: “We are really pleased with the way local people have responded to the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday night.
“We are so grateful that people in the Keswick area are working with us and only going out to shop for basic necessities as infrequently as possible and taking one form of exercise a day, alone or with members of their household.
Mrs Henderson said that her team and all NHS workers in the Lakes and Cumbria were pleading with people not to come to the area this weekend to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
She stressed: “My team and I are still working to keep the population of Keswick safe. We have lots of family and friends who are helping us by looking after vulnerable people who are well to protect and shield them.
“Our service is still available for them, but we are trying to keep these vulnerable people protected from COVID-19.
Anybody who has concerns or is in urgent need can contact Yvonne Henderson and her team of district nurses via the Hub on 01946 853333 option 7 for advice.
“I thank everybody in the Keswick area for supporting me and my team and the rest of our hardworking NHS colleagues. Stay at home and practice social distancing of two-metres when you have to go out.”
