Support our NHS and Key Workers – #ClapForOurCarers
At 8pm today (Thursday 9th April) the nation will come together for the Clap For Our Carers campaign – now in its third week.
The campaign honours the efforts of the 1.3 million NHS staff fighting the coronavirus pandemic every day and the key workers such as teachers, supermarket workers, pharmacists, bin men, delivery drivers, journalists and volunteers working all hours during the Covid-19 crisis.
Last week millions of people across the UK took to their doorsteps, balconies and gardens or stood in their windows to join in the applause and show their appreciation for health staff at this unprecedented time.
Clap for our Carers creator, London-based Dutch yoga teacher Annemarie Plas, first had the idea after seeing footage of a similar tribute in the Netherlands.
She used social media to spread word of the campaign, with millions of people across the country eventually participating last week.
Annemarie has suggested that the UK continues to clap at 8pm every Thursday throughout the crisis to show continued support for the people working under extremely difficult circumstances.
So, let’s all join in this evening’s tribute by clapping, banging pots and pans, playing musical instruments to let the NHS staff and other key workers know how much they are all appreciated.
