An attempt to create the world’s longest stretch of bunting is being organised by the NHS North Cumbria Foundation Trust to celebrate the creativity and unity of people across the county during the Covid-19 crisis.
The aim of the NHS Wellbeing Bunting Challenge is to create 12 miles of bunting – which would be a world record – to show a united, creative Cumbria. The intention is for the finished string of bunting to be displayed locally as a celebration of wellbeing.
A spokeswoman for the project said: “12 miles of bunting equals 80,472 flags – but, if everyone in Cumbria contributed just a one flag we would have 498,888 flags!
“The Wellbeing Service recognises the importance of creative activity for general wellbeing and social contact. This project, launched before the Covid-19 crisis, seems now even more relevant as we tackle self-isolation. While we can’t get together in person, we can in spirit!” she added.
Simply follow the size guide below using recycled material, make as many flags as you want, be creative, add your personal ‘made in Cumbria’ touch and HAVE FUN!
