It’s that special time of the week again – at 8pm tonight (Thursday) when we can all show our support for NHS staff and key workers by joining week 5 of the nationwide Clap For Our Carers campaign.
The campaign honours the efforts of the 1.3 million NHS and health care staff fighting the Covid-19 pandemic every day, and other key workers including teachers, supermarket staff, pharmacists, bin men, delivery drivers, journalists and volunteers working all hours during the coronavirus crisis.
Over the last four weeks millions of people across the UK have stood on their doorsteps and balconies, in their gardens or in their windows to join in the evening’s tribute by clapping, banging pots and pans, playing musical instruments to let the NHS staff and other key workers know how much they are all appreciated during these unprecedented times
The Clap for our Carers campaign was created by London-based Dutch yoga teacher Annemarie Plas, who came up with the idea after seeing footage of a similar tribute in the Netherlands.
Using social media, Annemarie spread the word of the campaign, with millions of people across the UK now taking part in this weekly event – at 8pm every Thursday – to give a boost to and show support for the people working tirelessly under the current extremely difficult circumstances.
So, let’s #ClapForOurCarers – tonight at 8pm.
