Revised plans to develop a former disused commercial garage in Helvellyn Street, Keswick, to create five new two-bedroom flats have been submitted to the Lake District National Park Authority.
Penrith-based Atkinson Homes want to turn the former HiQ Tyre Services building into local occupancy homes which the applicants say would be in keeping”with the surrounding streets.
The report adds that the development would be a positive contribution to the Keswick town centre housing stock.
An application for the development was first submitted last year, but it was withdrawn ahead of any decisions.
The current application has already attracted some complaints, notably from the owners of a property in nearby Leonard Street who are concerned about the overbearing nature of the proposed scheme and their right to light.
The matter will be discussed at a future Keswick Town Council meeting before a final decision is made by the Lake District National Park Authority.
