A 60-year-old cyclist has been airlifted to hospital after he collided with a sheep.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out to Force Crag, near Braithwaite, to help the male cyclist, who had sustained severe facial injuries and possible spinal injuries, after a group of walkers raised the alarm.
The team said a sheep had leapt out in front of him during the incident, which happened yesterday at around 6.20pm.
One of the walkers was an A&E doctor, who had assessed the cyclist and made sure his spine was protected.
Volunteers from the mountain rescue team stretchered the cyclist to one of their vehicles and drove him to the Braithwaite Institute, where he was transported to hospital by a Coastguard helicopter.
