Staff at Costa Coffee branches face an uncertain future as the coffee chain announced today that 1,650 are at risk of redundancy.
The firm, which has outlets in Penrith and Keswick said it meant one in 10 of its workers nationally were at risk.
It is not known how many staff at its branches in Cumbria are at risk.
The company is looking to cut costs amid continued uncertainty over when trade will fully recover following the coronavirus pandemic.
It was bought by Coca-Cola two years ago and has 2,700 UK outlets.
