Owners of an independent Keswick-based travel agency are to give up their premises in Lake Road at the end of the year but have pledged it will be “business as usual” as they carry on working from home.
Sue Macpherson and Linda Kirkbride formed Keswick Travel in 2000 and moved into their present offices 17 years ago.
During the 10-week lockdown period the duo had worked from home, but returned to their office a few weeks ago.
However, now they have opted not to renew the lease, which is up for renewal at the end of the year, and will continue their successful business by working from their homes.
Sue said: “It will be business as usual. By prior arrangement, personal visits to our home office will be welcome. We can deliver tickets, collect cash/cheque payments and whatever else to make the experience with us seamless from start to finish.
“Until confidence in the travel industry returns to its pre-COVID levels, we feel it is the best move for Keswick Travel.
“During lockdown, when homeworking was the only option, we managed very successfully and can assure our customers of the very same service moving forward.”
Sue stressed that this is just a temporary measure and when the situation picks up again, she and Linda will be looking for an office in the town.
Linda said: “Our company will continue as a member of the Association of British Travel Agents and, as such, full financial protection will be given to any booking made with us.
“We thank our loyal customers for their support and look forward to seeing them all in person again very soon.”
