Keswick’s long-serving town clerk is to retire next year.
Lynda Walker will be 67 by the time she steps down from her role with Keswick Town Council in February or March.
She has been the town clerk since March, 2008, when she moved to the area from her previous job with the local council at Crewe and Nantwich in Cheshire.
“I had worked in local government for 30 years before I came here,” she said.
She moved to the Lake District with her husband Ian after he retired.
The couple now live in Keswick. Her job involves leading the town council’s team of three officers and advising its 12 councillors, as well as the parks’ trust and its trustees.
Interviews for her successor are due to be held by the council’s staffing committee in early December.
The committee is set to be granted authority to make the appointment without referral to full council.
