We are in the midst of a pandemic and winter is on its way — but romance is still in the air at the Hazel Bank Country House Hotel in Borrowdale.
The privately owned business has been shortlisted for the 2021 Conde Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence in the most romantic category.
Winners of the prestigious UK awards are usually announced at a glitzy black tie dinner at The Mayfair Hotel in London but this year’s event will be a virtual ceremony.
The Hazel Bank is up against finalists including Grantley Hall, in Yorkshire, and Scotland’s Inverlochy Castle.
The hotel in Rosthwaite is run by local couple Donna and Gary MacRae who have already won a string of national awards.
