Nine restaurants in the North Lakes are included in the latest edition of a national guide which tells food lovers the best places in the UK to eat with an overnight stay.
Five in Borrowdale, two in Bassenthwaite, and one each in Keswick and Braithwaite feature in the AA Restaurant Guide 2020.
They are among 67 Cumbrian restaurants listed in the guide to the best cuisine with accommodation in Britain, each being awarded coveted rosettes for culinary excellence by the AA’s professional inspectors.
Simon Numphud, managing director of AA Media, said: “There is no denying that it has been an immensely difficult time for the hospitality sector but we have seen hotels across the UK and Ireland rise to the occasion, providing the public with fantastic experiences and enjoyable stays despite the challenges of COVID-19.
“Providing outstanding hospitality is an impressive feat at any time but is particularly notable now and we are delighted to be able to recognise the hard work and creativity of our Red Star winners.”
Forest Side, in Grasmere, and Linthwaite House, Windermere were the only two restaurants in Cumbria to pick up the coveted four rosette status.
Restaurants in the North Lakes which are featured are: Lake View Restaurant and Ravenstone Lodge Country House Hotel, both in Bassenthwaite; Borrowdale Gates Hotel, Hazel Bank Country House, The Leathes Head, Lodore Falls and Scafell Hotel, all in Borrowdale; The Cottage in the Wood, Braithwaite, and Brossen Steakhouse, Keswick. Only Windermere had more entries than Borrowdale.
