Volunteers from Keswick Community Emergency Recovery Partnership are out and about in the town continuing to run its street warden scheme as the new lockdown bites.
The group, which has120 volunteers, set up a street warden system in Keswick at the start of the pandemic in March.
Initially the scheme was supported by Cumbria Community Foundation, whose grant allowed KSERP to develop and ensure anyone in need of support in the community had somebody there to help.
Keswick volunteers also offer a telephone befriending service to make sure everyone has someone to if they need help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, or just want someone to have a chat with.
The volunteers have formed many friendships over the past nine months among themselves or with the people they are supporting.
Some now see their voluntary role as part of their routine, offering regular help to some people, or occasional assistance to others.
Kimberley Ward, project manager for KCERP said: “The street wardens have reported they have made some lovely friendships with people in their local areas but we just wanted to remind people that anyone can ask for help.
“The volunteers are all really keen to help people and there are plenty of them, so please ask.”
Anybody who is unsure who their street warden is and would like support can email [email protected] to find out.
Keswick Lions and Rotary also have an emergency fund available to support individuals and families in the CA12 area who are facing financial difficulties due to COVID..

Meanwhile, Bassenthwaite Community Response team is also continuing to offer support for the village community via a weekly prescriptions delivery service each Friday to the Underskiddaw and Bassenthwaite areas.
Bassenthwaite’s village honesty shop has also been reinstalled, providing everyday essentials.
This avoids trips into Keswick, as does the daily food delivery service from Rebecca at Keswick Mini Market available on 017687 73535.
A transport service for vaccinations in Wigton is also available.
