Essential maintenance work on the former railway station site near Keswick Country House Hotel is to begin again following complaints by local councillors.
Councillor Peter Terry, an Independent member of Keswick Town Council, had noticed that glass panels on a canopy had slipped and he brought this to the attention of colleagues last year.
Labour councillor Markus Campbell-Savours, who is also member of Allerdale Borough Council, took up the matter with the Workington-based authority.
Allerdale has now worked with Choice Hotels, which leases the area as part of the nearby hotel it owns, and an agreement has been reached for work to be carried out and a maintenance programme introduced.
Mr Campbell-Savours said: “It was sad the old station platform and canopy had fallen into disrepair and this agreement hasn’t come a moment too soon.
“For many people the former station is the start of the newly reopened Keswick to Threlkeld railway footpath and it is good news that repair work will be carried out and a maintenance programme reintroduced.”
