An updated list showing there are up to 200 holiday homes in just one North Lakes parish has been considered by parish councillors recently.
The list covered the Newlands Valley and the villages of Thornthwaite, Portinscale and Braithwaite and contained information about properties allegedly breaching local occupancy clauses.
Last month The Keswick Reminder reported that members of Upper Derwent Parish Council had voted to submit a fresh list of holiday homes to the Lake District National Park Authority to investigate whether any local occupancy clauses were being breached.
That new list was looked at by councillors attending a virtual meeting of the council.
It showed that only a small number of property owners were in alleged breach of local occupancy clauses and two cottages in Braithwaite appear to have fallen foul of restrictions.
In another instance, no planning permission has been granted for a property in Thornthwaite to be divided into two units and the LDNPA has ruled that “the use of the ancillary accommodation as a self contained holiday let is unauthorised.”
And the owner of a dwelling in Portinscale that has been sub-divided into two dwellings without planning permission has been told that a breach of planning consent has occurred and has been made aware of the different courses of action they can now take.
