Riders have returned to the saddle with the reopening of the Calvert Trust’s stables in Keswick.
Those not requiring close contact with staff were first back and as COVID lockdown restrictions are lifted, others who need more supervision will be able to mount up again.
‘’We hope, if all goes to plan with the Government easing of restrictions, to have all our local riders back on board by the end of July,’’ said stables manager Henri Carew.
“This process might take a bit of time as we will assess all our riders individually before they return to group lessons,” she added.
The opening coincides with the relaunch of the Pony Club Centre offering children of all ages and abilities the opportunity to take part in club activities.
Henri said: “Pony Club is a brilliant way for children to learn all about how to care for their pony as well as how to progress with their riding skills.
“They all work together as a team to help each other learn and it is our opportunity to train up the stable staff of the future.
“Once we are able to open fully, we look forward to working closely with visitors to Calvert Lakes and Calvert Reconnections, the new rehabilitation centre for people with acquired brain injury.
“We really do appreciate all the support we have received locally whilst we had to close and a big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped to keep our stables open.”
