The first in-person talk for adults at Keswick Museum is set to return after more than 15 months.
On Thursday at 1pm, long-time museum volunteer and Keswick Reminder contributor Stuart Creswell will talk about the Dunkirk evacuation and his father, who served in the British Expeditionary Force in World War Two.
Dave Cryer, learning and engagement co-ordinator for the museum, said: “This event is really important for us because it’s the first event with adults back in.
“We take pride in working with the whole community locally.
“I was talking to a visitor who said for him this will be the first thing he’s been to since the pandemic began which just made me realise how important the work we do is.”
Mr Cryer had a full eight months of speakers planned in March 2020 when the country was put into its first lockdown and Mr Creswell was originally due to give this talk on June 6 last year.
Talks will be held on the first Thursday of every month, in person and on Zoom, with topics including a history of mining in the area, local geology and Millbeck’s past.
In person tickets are free and can be booked at www.eventbrite.com/e/159471885703 and Zoom tickets at www.eventbrite.com/e/159493488317
