A Keswick springer spaniel, who has raised more than £300,000 for charity over the last four years, has reached the final 10 selection stage in the Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons 2021 Hero Pet category.
Max and its owner Kerry Irving, of Helvellyn Street, have raised cash for MIND, Help For Heroes, and the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals.
Max has been immortalised in Keswick with a bronze statue being erected in his honour in Hope Park.
He has also received the animal equivalent of an OBE.
Mr Irving adopted Max in 2008 after he had been seriously injured in a road accident and was suffering severe depression.
Photos of Max out on his walks quickly became popular on social media and since then he has met more than 10,000 people through meet and greets, charity walks, personal appearances and visits to schools which have all contributed to raising the £300,000.
Max reached the Hero Pet selection stage out of 300 nominations overall chosen by the public.
The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 5.
Falklands War hero Simon Weston chairs the judging panel.
