Keswick is to play host to an all-day musical extravaganza, aimed at seeing out summer with a bang.
The free event, which will take place at Fitz Park on September 5, will combine contemporary music from local artists with the traditional Last Night of the Proms familiar to regulars at the town’s Midsummer Festival.
The afternoon begins with Anne-Marie Quinn-Lliles, recently returned to Keswick, who will be playing tracks from her new album Blue Sky Thinking.
Then Water’s Edge and The Royal Northern 6, specially put together by Mike Huit, will take the audience through pop classics, and jazz.
The classical section starts with soprano Emily Robinson and the Burneside Brass Band.
Organised by Keswick Town Council Events Committee, the event starts at 1pm with food and drink available all day.
Straw bales for seating will be available, but people can bring their own seats if they prefer.
Toilets are provided by the kind co-operation of Lakeland Trails.
Programmes and lyrics will be provided on the day, but many locations in town will also have copies available.
