A pair of Keswick businessmen have set up a new holiday letting firm to help property owners make the most of their homes.
Born out of the Covid-19 pandemic, when many holiday home owners were let down by agencies, Glenn Rowley and Paul Wheldon set up Keswick Holiday Properties to put power back into the owners’ hands.
Glenn, 62, of Keswick, owns a holiday let in the town.
He said: “While working with the larger national letting agencies, I was disappointed with the way many local businesses were treated during the Covid crisis and realised
it was the perfect time to try a new way, as there are some excellent platforms and new technology to make doing it yourself much easier.
“We want to help property owners and we can help them stand out from the crowd.
“Owners will be able to have as much or as little involvement as they want in the letting process, allowing complete flexibility.”
Glenn ran the town’s KE Travel for more than 30 years. He sold it four years ago.
Paul also has several years experience in the travel and tourism industry.
The aim of Keswick Holiday Properties is to give property owners – and people running B&Bs and hotels – the option to take control of their business.
He added: “As a property owner and not having to pay large commissions to agencies, I can offer better prices and take more control over bookings and my own client base.
“I also thought Keswick needed another source of information about the town, and things to do in the area, as well as promoting local businesses through our interactive page.”
Paul helps owners design websites for their properties and the team also offer photography, property assessment and a maintenance service.
Glenn said: “We aim to guide people through the process and we don’t take a commission like a traditional agency would.”
Paul added: “I’ve always been passionate about marketing and website design, and Keswick Holiday Properties is a great shop window for some of the local businesses I have helped over the years and hopefully some new ones too.”
