A community trust that cares for one of Keswick’s most iconic buildings has made a donation to a North Lakes primary school.
Part of the remit of the Battersby Hall Charity, which took over the running of the Moot Hall in 2018, is to enhance and promote education, in its broadest sense, within the community of Keswick and the surrounding area.
In meeting that requirement, the charity is making a series of donations to local primary schools.
The first of these was made to Threlkeld Primary School and saw Battersby Hall trustee Brenda Mumford hand over £500 to headteacher Nick Turley.
Ms Mumford said that the Battersby Hall Trust was delighted to be supporting Threlkeld School. She said £300 would go towards buying books for the school library and the remaining £200 will purchase equipment for the school gardening club.
“We hope the children will have great enjoyment from the books they purchase and also find them a good source of information,” she said.
“The gardening skills and knowledge they gain from using their new equipment will be very beneficial I am sure.”
