A national trade retailer is opening an outlet in Keswick town centre later this month.
Screwfix throws open its doors to its new store at 85-87 Main Street on Saturday November 20. The retailer has created 10 new jobs in the area.
Store manager Matt Nightingale believes the store’s convenient location, wide product range and click and collect service is a real bonus to local tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts.
“We’ve got a great location here in Keswick,” he said. “Our team have been getting to know local businesses and tradespeople and we can’t wait to support them in their busy lives by being here when they need us.”
David Baskville of DIY store Lakeland Decor, on Bank Street, Keswick, said he was not “obsessing” about Screwfix coming to town.
“It’s a bit early to tell but we sell a more varied range of things to what they do and we have got some very loyal customers,” said Mr Baskville.
“We have seen it all before, different companies opening up and not lasting.
“We don’t know what the impact is going to be but I’m not obsessing about it.”
