They’ve survived Covid, collapsing holiday firms and even an Icelandic ash cloud.
Now the dynamic duo behind Keswick Travel are ready to celebrate a very special anniversary – in a new office.
Linda Kirkbride and Sue Macpherson launched their business in 2001, and over the last two decades have helped thousands of customers find their dream holiday in locations all over the world.
However the last two years have proved the most challenging, as the travel industry was all but shut down due to the global pandemic.
Forced to work from a temporary office in Linda’s spare room, the pair nevertheless refused to be beaten – and now they are back with all guns blazing in time to celebrate 21 years in business in style.
The anniversary coincides with a move to new premises at High Hill, and with summer holiday bookings starting to flood in, the future looks bright once again.
“Over the last 21 years we’ve been through 9/11, the Iceland ash cloud and tour operator collapses, but none have come close to the impact Covid has had,” said Linda.
“The last 12 months has been all about minimising our costs as much as possible. When cancelling and refunding was all we were doing for so much of the time, it was very disheartening and at times we wondered if we would get through it.
“But, given the fantastic support received from our wonderful customers, family and friends, we were determined not to be defeated by it. We are now looking forward to a
brighter future again, having emerged from what has felt like a very long, dark tunnel.”
The new Keswick Travel office was officially opened this week by the town’s mayor and mayoress Alan and Heather Dunn.
“It is great that this local business has survived,” Alan said. “Heather and I trust Keswick Travel with all our travel holiday arrangements and have done so for many years.
“They are two great ladies and deserve all the very best for the future.”
