Armathwaite Hall Hotel has donated £4,000 to help save the red panda.
The hotel, at Bassenthwaite, usually buys gifts for its guests at Christmas – but this year decided to donate the money it would have spent to a worthy cause.
It chose the Red Panda Network, which was founded in 2007 to conserve the endangered red panda and preserve their habitat. It is based in Nepal.
Hotel guests donated £2,000 donated and The Lake District Wildlife Park, located on the grounds of the hotel, then matched this donation amount for the charity.
Terrance Fleming, development manager at the Red Panda Network, said: “The support allows us to continue to make great strides toward raising awareness of red panda throughout the world and catalyse action towards their conservation.”
Carolyn Graves, director at Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa and the Lake District Wildlife Park, added: “We are delighted to be able to support the brilliant Red Panda Network and the amazing animals the charity helps.
“Working with the Lake District Wildlife Park has grown our love for all of our furry friends, and showed the importance of conservation efforts globally. A huge thank you to all of our hotel guests over Christmas 2021 who supported us.”
