Mark Fryer has been elected the leader of the Labour group on the new Cumberland Council.
Coun Fryer was chosen by the electorate in Workington’s St John’s, Stainburn and Great Clifton ward at the local elections last Thursday.
The Labour Party swept to victory in the local elections and will lead the new authority, which comes into being next April, will replace Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland district authorities and the county council.
Deputy leaders for the Labour group are Lisa Brown and Emma Williamson.
