Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out earlier today to assist a woman who had slipped and injured her ankle at Stockley Bridge near Seathwaite.
The woman made an effort to continue but the pain was too much. A pair of passing walkers made their way to nearby Seathwaite Farm to raise the alarm as there is no mobile signal in that part of Borrowdale.
They returned up the valley and waited with the casualty and her husband for the arrival of the Keswick team. After her ankle was splinted, the woman was stretchered to her car at Seathwaite Farm. The couple then made their own way to hospital for further checks.
Thirteen team members were involved in the two-hour rescue.
