A North Lakeland restaurant is shooting for the stars once again after beating hundreds of other eateries to be shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The award-winning Mizu Restaurant, at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa in the Borrowdale valley, is in the running to be named the Best Restaurant in England in the national 2022 Golden Chopsticks Awards, hosted by Gok Wan and judged by Ken Hom.
It is just one of three finalists for this category with the announcement coming three years after Mizu won Best Newcomer in the 2019 Golden Chopsticks Awards.
The Golden Chopsticks Awards, co-founded by Gok Wan in 2018, is one of the largest and most prestigious celebrations of Eastern food in the country and recognises the excellence of east and south east Asian cuisine throughout the UK.
“Thank you to all our fantastic customers and loyal fans who voted for us over the past eight weeks,” said Dani Hope, director of Lake District Hotels.
“The support has been tremendous and we are thrilled to get such positive news right at the time where we are launching our exotic, new menu which we have spent months developing. We are especially proud of the finished product.”
The new Mizu menu, which went live on July 6, sees the introduction of more than 35 new Asian dishes and has been met with critical acclaim by visitors. A high demand in bookings has been recorded with both hotel residents and non-residents wanting to sample some of the much-anticipated new flavours.
The Mizu team will find out if they are taking home the title of Best Restaurant in England on September 26 at The London Marriott Hotel. Mizu initially opened its doors in 2018 and was developed as part of a £13 million investment at the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa.
