Keswick’s reputation as a Mecca for celebrities was boosted once again as funnyman Bob Mortimer paid a visit to the town.
Bob – best-known for his comedy partnership with Vic Reeves and for his hit TV show Gone Fishing, with Paul Whitehouse – gallantly posed for selfies with fans who spotted him outside the Booths store on Titheburn Street.
Understood to be on holiday in the Lakes with his family, it’s not the first time Bob has been in Keswick.
Indeed he credits a visit to the town in 1977 with sparking his subsequent showbiz career.
In his bestselling memoir, And Away… Bob recounts how, as an 18-year-old, he went on a camping trip to Ashness Bridge with his best friend Cagsy, walking three miles to Keswick to eat breakfast and take a boat trip or play mini-golf.
