A lone mountain biker broke his leg while out on a Lake District fell.
The man was at the top of Barrow when he came off his bike – but despite the pain and getting cold, he managed to call 999.
Volunteers from Keswick Mountain Rescue Team, plus the Great North Air Ambulance and a paramedic crew were dispatched at around 8.20pm on Friday.
They reached the man and provided shelter, a casualty bag and chemical heat blanket.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: “Team medics meantime administered strong analgesia before splinting the leg. When sufficient team members had arrived the man was stretchered off the fell to an awaiting ambulance and a GNAAS doctor. Many thanks to the local fell running couple who assisted.”
The rescue involved 17 team members and took two hours and 22 minutes.
