A Dutch holidaymaker was rescued by Keswick firefighters after she misjudged a U-turn and ended up with her van teetering off the edge of the road.
The woman was on the access road from Portinscale to Grange Manesty below Catbells when she carried out the manoeuvre at around 12.30pm yesterday.
She ended up with the rear wheels of her vehicle overhanging a severe drop.
Fire crews from Keswick and Cockermouth quickly secured the vehicle, rescued the woman and recovered the vehicle so she could carry on with her holiday.
Firefighters used winches to secure the vehicle and crews were detained for 40 minutes.
