Keswick Lions continue to support the town’s Mary Hewitson Cottage Hospital by keeping its grounds neat and tidy.
This is a significant commitment from the Lions, who are often joined by members from Keswick in Bloom.
The Lions took on the upkeep of the hospital grounds more than a decade ago when the hospital’s budget simply could not afford to maintain the lawns, hedges and many borders.
Recently, a team of nine gave up two-and-a-half hours of their time each focusing upon the many hedges which produce mountains of cuttings to be cleared away.
Lions president Nigel Hale was among the volunteers and said what a pleasure it is to support the local hospital.
Patients and staff alike appreciate the hard work of the volunteers opening up beautiful views of the hills, keeping paths clear and borders free of weeds.
