Temporary traffic lights are set to be in operation on the A66 next week.
National Highways will install the lights from midnight on Monday September 5 on the A66 eastbound and westbound, Lambfoot junction to Dubwath.
Contractors will be on site to install vehicle activated signs to help combat speeding.
The work is estimated to take five days and drivers are warned there will be slight delays.
National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in its schedule.
