Allerdale’s Market Trader of the Year has been crowned.
It is an award that is given to a trader who shows outstanding effort in markets across the borough and was won this year by Mr Vikkis who trade in curry pastes, chutneys and sauces.
Mr Vikkis has had a stall on Keswick market for many years and is now on Workington and Cockermouth markets.
The Penrith-based business, a winner of more than 140 Great Taste Awards, has even named one of its best- selling sauces Keswick Market.
It is owned and run by Adam and Roxanne Marks and Dan Hunt.
The award was presented by Mike Johnson, leader of Allerdale Borough Council, and by Phil Byers, the council’s markets manager.
He said: “Adam, Roxanne and Dan from Mr Vikkis are a huge credit to our markets and the award is much deserved. They can add this to the many awards they have received previously.”
Individual awards were presented to a trader on each of the Allerdale markets this year.
Keswick’s winner was Sally Griffiths and her daughter, Ella, who run the Derwent Frames picture framing business. It is based in the town and has been part of the market for many years.
Mr Byers said: “Derwent Frames are a great attraction to the market and it is a pleasure to recognise their part in the market’s success.”
