A luxury Lake District hotel has announced a £1m investment to create eight new spa garden suites as part of its award-winning facilities.
The owners of the Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, set in 400 acres of deer park and woodland at Bassenthwaite, have put the development plan in place following a noticeable increase in the luxury market.
The development will be completed in April 2023 and is an extension of the recent development of public spaces in the hotel including the Lake View restaurant, lounge and reception.
The existing spa wing bedrooms, which lead from the main house towards the spa have easy access to the facilities and will be extended and doubled in size to a floor footage of 40 to 50 square metres.
The spa garden suites have been designed to connect its guests with the lush greenery of the landscape that sits directly outside each room and are accessible via a private patio.
Each suite layout has been designed in partnership with architect Unwin Jones to include a spacious lobby, a top of the range four-piece bathroom, a luxury bedroom, a lounge with large glazed windows which will have garden views, a snug corner sofa and a feature fireplace.
The design of the suites take inspiration from the hotel’s natural environment with materials carefully chosen to tie in with the historic architecture of Armathwaite Hall, while adding a modern touch with timber finns and large expanses of glazing.
Internally, the design scheme uses natural raw materials such as oak and stone to further root the rooms naturally within their surroundings. The suites have been designed to exude a sense of serenity and well-being, with calming tones such as muted greens, stormy grey blues and earthy terracotta, all inspired from the natural surrounding landscape.
General manager Simon Steele said; “The decision to expand our bedroom offering is born off the back of an increase in the high-end leisure market and the demand for bigger and better bedrooms for our luxury spa guests.
“We are continually striving to enhance our guests experience at Armathwaite Hall Hotel and providing them with an improved space to relax and retreat will meet and exceed their expectations.”
Owned by the Graves family, it said its pre-tax profits rose from £523,479 in 2021 to £2.2 million in 2022.
