Fabulous crafters helped fundraisers Diane Cannon, Trish and Rachel Gale raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The trio held a craft fair at Crosthwaite Parish Room in Keswick on January 28 to support the charity that came to the aid of Diane’s mum.
Diane said: “We were delighted to welcome visitors and locals to the fair. Everyone commented on the amazing work on display, and many were tempted to treat themselves.”
Elaine Pratt from Borrowdale Glass said “We had a lovely day at the MNDA craft fair. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and it was a great turn out.”
Diane’s family and friends greeted everyone as they entered the busy hall, and shared information about MND, and what the fundraising will go towards.
“When my mum was no longer able to speak, the eye gaze technology which the MNDA gave her allowed her to communicate again,” said Diane. “We hope to be able to raise enough money to supply someone in the MND community with this technology.”
Refreshments were served by Trish and Rachel with the help of Brenda Ousby.
“Scotmid Co-op covered the costs of the drinks and biscuits, and the home made cakes disappeared very quickly.
“We want to thank all of the fabulous crafters, our family and friends for their support, and everyone who came along. An amazing £672 was raised on the day,” said Diane.
In the run up to the Rob Burrows Marathon in May – which the trio are taking part in – there will be more opportunities for people to take part in the fundraising, namely a salsa party in March and a quiz night in April.
