Members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were diverted to a more urgent call-out on Tuesday afternoon after initially responding to a woman who had injured her ankle on Green Gable above Gillercomb Head.
They were making their way up the mine track towards Dubs Hut and were still in their vehicles when the call came in that a 14-year-old-boy had collapsed on Grey Knotts.
Considering the potential seriousness, the air ambulance was requested to attend. The team had not been long at the casualty site when it arrived.
The boy was treated on scene then transferred to the helicopter and flown down to Gatesgarth in the Buttermere Valley to rendezvous with an ambulance for onward transport to the West Cumbria Infirmary with his mum.
On completion of this incident the team was able to continue on the first call-out towards Green Gable arriving at the casualty site around the same time as members of Cockermouth MRT.
The woman was given pain relief and her ankle splinted before both teams helped with a stretcher carry back to the Drum House track from where she was transported in a team vehicle down to Honister to her own car.
