People and businesses are urged to support the Lake District Calvert Trust’s summer ball.
Tickets are now available for the black-tie event, on June 9 at Armathwaite Hall, Bassenthwaite.
It starts with a reception at 6.30pm followed by a three-course dinner created by Armathwaite’s 2 AA rosette chef with table wine.
Guests will then hear from world-class high-altitude mountaineer, ex-SAS mountain leader and spiritual guide Krish Thapa, who will have recently returned from a world-first expedition, guiding double above the knee amputee Hari Budha Magar up Mount Everest.
Other highlights during the evening include a charity auction, live music and entertainment.
Sean Day, centre director at the Lake District Calvert Trust, said: “This year’s summer ball promises to be our best yet and we are thrilled to welcome Krish as our guest speaker.
“Krish will share his extraordinary journey; from growing up in the foothills of the Himalayas into the Ghurkhas and then being the first Ghurkha to make it through the gruelling SAS selection process where he served as head of the Mountain Troop and mental health first aider for 21 years.
“He will explain how he found mental strength and resilience in returning to his Buddhist roots and how he is now encouraging others to overcome adversity, fear and depression through adventure and sport with a positive mindful approach.
“Among all the fun, the evening also serves a hugely important purpose.
“Every year, our residential breaks and accessible stables help thousands of people with a range of disabilities experience the Lake District in a safe and supportive way, delivering a fun and fulfilling experience that makes a positive difference in their lives.
None of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of our supporters and funders. The summer ball is absolutely vital to our fundraising efforts.”
Tickets are £95 per person or £900 for a table of 10. For more details, visit https://calvertlakes.org.uk/product/the-lake-district-calvert-trust-summer-ball-2023/
