Six Cumbrian tourism firms are in the running to be named the best in England.
The finalists have been revealed for the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023.
The awards champion the very best of the country’s tourism industry celebrating quality, innovation, best practice and exceptional customer service.
In total, the 48-strong shortlist will compete in 16 categories. As well as the six firms, Michael Wilson, the official guide to the Kent Estuary, has been nominated for an unsung hero award.
The following Cumbrian businesses have been named as finalists:
- B&B and Guest House of the Year: Cedar Manor, Windermere
- Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year: The Quiet Site, Ullswater
- Experience of the Year: Make Your Own Gin Experience, Shed 1 Distillery, Ulverston
- New Tourism Business of the Year: Bassenthwaite Lake Station
- Small Hotel of the Year: Askham Hall
- Small Visitor Attraction of the Year: Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass
- Unsung Hero: Michael Wilson, official guide to the Kent Estuary
VisitEngland director Andrew Stokes said: “This impressive list of finalists demonstrates the innovation and excellence thriving across England’s tourism industry.
“The quality and number of applications also highlights the outstanding range of products and experiences on offer for both domestic and international visitors. We wish the finalists the very best of luck.”
Winners will be revealed at a ceremony in London on June 7.
