Four sports clubs are set to enjoy an improved sports pavilion at the Braithwaite Institute, thanks to a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery.
Braithwaite football, cricket and croquet clubs as well as Keswick and Braithwaite Tennis Club all use the facility which contains changing rooms, a kitchen and social space.
Peter Walter, chair of the Braithwaite Institute, said: “The grant has allowed us to insulate the building, add new heating and lighting and create a much more welcoming space that we hope the clubs will use for social events and meetings as well as providing much better facilities for match days.”
Julie Saxton, chair of Keswick and Braithwaite Tennis Club, said: “We are very excited about the pavilion upgrade. It will be wonderful to have a warm and comfortable social space which we can use all year round. We intend to use it for club nights, league matches, social meetings, social tournaments and also regular committee meetings.”
The pitch was funded by a £5,000 grant from Allerdale and Sports England as well as a donation from Jonathon Brown of Snif Snax pet foods.
