A walker suffered injuries to her head, back and arm after falling around 22ft from Blencathra’s Hall’s Fell Ridge on Thursday.
The casualty’s partner called for assistance and Keswick Mountain Rescue Team deployed. Fortunately coastguard helicopter R912 was training in the area and was quickly on scene lowering a winchman/paramedic to the casualty.
On arrival Keswick MRT members assisted with pain relief and packaging before the casualty was airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Leeds.
Twenty-two team members were involved in the operation that lasted more than three hours.
