A Keswick School pupil has been selected for the England Rugby U18 Girls training camp ahead of the 2024 Six Nations campaign.
Sixteen-year-old Izzy Green, the daughter of Tim Green and his partner Sara Young, has been playing for Keswick RUFC since the age of six. Between the ages of six and 10 she played mixed rugby before starting playing girls’ rugby and represented Cumbria in the under 15s.
Last season at U16 level Izzy, who plays stand off fly half, was nominated to join the Development Players’ Pathway and after three playing opportunities was selected to join the North East and Cumbria Centre of Excellence. She currently trains once a week in the North East travelling to places like Newcastle, Gateshead and Hartlepool.
The family was waiting to hear whether she had been selected for the North East and Cumbria Centre of Excellence playing squad when they heard the news about her being chosen for the England Rugby U18 Girls training camp.
“It’s the next step on her pathway,” said Tim. “We are incredibly proud of her.”
