There is an opportunity tomorrow (July 22) to join members of Keswick Museum’s learning team and English Heritage guides to explore Castlerigg stone circle and discover what Neolithic life would have been like in the Lake District.
It runs from 10am until 2pm and is part of the Council of Archaeology’s and the museum’s Festival of Archaeology. The event is free and no booking is required.
There will be a chance to handle objects from the museum’s collection and lots of other ways to get immersed in the Neolithic history of the area.
Today at 1pm Jennifer Wexler, Curator Ancient Monuments at English Heritage, will deliver a talk at the museum about Neolithic Cumbria and the famous stone circle. Booking is required via the museum’s Eventbrite page.
On Wednesday, join the museum’s curatorial team and English Heritage volunteers in the museum gallery to find out how its neolithic collection, including the Langdale Stone axes, are cared for. Sessions are at 11am-12pm and 2-3pm.
