A National Trust farm in Borrowdale wants planning permission for two camping pods.
Tenant farmer Craig Fearon, of Nook Farm, Rosthwaite, has applied to the Lake District National Park Authority.
The proposal is to install the camping pods, suitable for two people each, and an associated drainage system, on land near to the farm, said planning architects, Martin Cuthell Ltd. It is part of a farm diversification scheme. Each pod and deck would be 6.2m long by 3.50m wide by 2.7m high.
The plan is to position the pods in front of a small wooded area on an outcrop of rock to screen them from neighbouring properties.
Visitors will leave their cars in the existing parking area of the farmyard. Planners will make a decision at a later date.
The expected occupancy levels are 40 weeks a year and are more likely to be used by those having shorter breaks than a full week’s stay, according to the application.
