Phase two of a project to enhance Blaze Bridge near High Lorton started on Tuesday.
Cumberland Council contractors have already strengthened the bridge with the installation of rock armour, rebuilt a retaining wall, improved carriageway drainage systems and re-pointed various bridge components.
The next phase of work is expected to take three weeks and will see the highways team concentrate their efforts on the construction of the parapet approach walls, marking a significant milestone in the project’s overall completion.
To facilitate the improvements there will be a full road closure while the works take place, with a diverted route fully signposted.
Cumberland Council wishes to thank the community for their continued support and patience while improvements are made to the bridge and apologises for any inconvenience and disruption caused.
