A historic Keswick pub is to close its doors from today for a short period of time to undergo a six-figure upgrade.
The popular and friendly Dog & Gun on Lake Road, is expected to re-open its doors to locals and visitors in late November.
A pub spokesperson said the traditional features of the pub will not be altered and the work will involve a sympathetic renovation both internally and externally. “We are just investing to keep it fresh and appealing,” said a spokesperson for the pub. “The works are designed to just give the pub a little upgrade and refresh.
“It will be shut until late November, no exact date has been confirmed yet as works are just about to begin but will definitely be open in time for Christmas.
“Be sure, we are not altering this historical pub or traditional features, just investing to keep it fresh and appealing.”
The spokesperson said that a six-figure sum was to be spent on the hostelry.
