Preparations are being made for the annual Keswick Tourism Association Santa Splash which sets off at noon on Friday December 1.
The event, which has been running since 2014, involves teams of Santas and elves in Canadian canoes battling it out on Derwentwater, in a race to claim the coveted “Santa Cruz” trophy.
For the past two years the winners have been The Quiet Site, from Ullswater, and they will be returning with two teams in the hope of retaining the trophy.
However, there is likely to be some stiff competition from Keswick based teams keen to see the trophy returned home.
Lake District Hotels have entered four teams this year and they will be joined by teams from the Keswick Alhambra, Keswick YHA and Derwentwater Marina.
Vanessa Metcalfe, tourism manager at Keswick Tourism Association, said: “This event is the highlight of our year, it is always so much fun and really gets the festive season started.
“Everyone is welcome to come down to the boat landings on the day to enjoy the fun.”
The event is open to any business, whether they are members of KTA or not.
