A briefing meeting about extending the hugely popular Keswick to Threlkeld trail is likely to be held next year.
The Lake District National Park Authority along with Threlkeld and St John’s Castlerigg & Wythburn parish councils are expected to meet in January about extending the 3.1-mile path.
Earlier this year The Keswick Reminder reported that ideas include adding a half-mile extension to the national park’s northern headquarters at the Old Station Yard, Threlkeld, and then potentially also running to St John’s-in-the-Vale and linking to the west side of Thirlmere and the cycle path over Dunmail Raise – creating a giant Lake District route.
Members of Threlkeld Parish Council heard at their latest meeting that due to delays in finalising funding agreements the project has not progressed enough for this initial meeting to be organised earlier.
