Two men who had got lost in deep snow and fading light on Skiddaw after taking a wrong turn required the assistance of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team members on Thursday afternoon.
An intermittent phone signal did not help but Phone Find eventually allowed the volunteers to establish their location towards Sale How above Skiddaw House.
They were advised to head towards Skiddaw House and in the meantime a small Keswick team used a Land Rover with snow chains to get as far up the Glenderaterra valley from the Blencathra Centre as possible. They then made the remainder of the distance on foot.
Once they had finished their hot porridge the two men were provided with micro-spikes and torches to help with the icy descent back to the Land Rover.
Seven team members were involved in the near four-hour rescue.
