A social group in Keswick for men aged between 18 and 45 is seeking new recruits to enjoy exciting activities and adventures.
Keswick Round Table has just released its upcoming programme of events in what is likely to be a memorable year for the group with its ‘make your weekdays as fun as your weekends’ motto.
It is seeking more men to get involved in activities such as hiking, axe throwing, bowling, paddle boarding, archery, escape rooms and wake surfing. Afterwards the group tends to socialise and have a beer and some craic.
“The big news for Keswick Round Table is that we are hosting the 24 numbers world meeting this year in April,” said member Lee Williamson.
“What this means is that Keswick Round Table’s number is 424 as it was the 424nd club charted in Britain and Ireland. When we re-charted a few years ago we got our number back.
“We have contacted round tables with the number 24 to join their numbers meeting. Each club in the world with the number 24 gets together for a weekend and each country takes a turn to host it.
“Rotherham 24 were supposed to host this year but after they dropped out we volunteered to host so we could join the 24 world meeting. “We will be hosting nearly 50 people for a weekend in April from all over the world from Austria to South Africa.”
Lee said that it is an opportunity for men to try new things, whether they are local or new to the area, meet new people and friends. The group meets fortnightly on a Monday night and also enjoys more sedate activities such as pub quizzes, cookery schools and poker nights which they recently enjoyed at the town’s Oddfellows Arms.
“Men’s mental health has been highlighted recently and this is a great support network,” said Lee.
And Lee also appealed to the ladies of Keswick to give the men in their lives help in making that first step to get involved.
He says that they should consider Keswick Round Table as being a man creche and the guarantee is that he will make new friends and come back tired and stimulated from the evening’s play and a few beers and his behaviour is sure to improve in the following weeks!
The Keswick Round Table publicity says: “A lot of guys will have seen our posts and all the fun things we get up to. But they will either make excuses or live busy lives with work and families to get involved
“If you know someone sat at home bored on a Monday night that you think would benefit and enjoy getting out, meeting new people and trying different activities then feel free to tag them and message us.
“Or if you just want a quiet night to yourself, we are happy to babysit him for you.”
