Lake District planners approved an application from Lake District Hotels Ltd to allow for the emergency/overspill car park at the Lodore Falls Hotel, Borrowdale, to be used on a permanent basis.
The proposal, which included landscaping and lighting of the site, had been referred to the development control committee of the Lake District National Park Authority to determine because Borrowdale Parish Council had “strongly objected” to the application.
The applicant said that the hotel required to use the emergency car park because the spa had become very successful attracting high occupancy by people using the attraction during the day.
The success of the extended hotel and Mizu Restaurant had also increased the number of non-resident visitors adding to the usage of the main car park.
