A couple are set to celebrate one year behind the bar of a popular Keswick pub that has “got its community feel back”.
Chris and Emma-Jayne Bridge have certainly enjoyed their first 12 months at the Twa Dogs on Penrith Road and are preparing for “a big birthday bash”.
“After the pub had experienced such a turbulent time with a number of landlords in a short period of time, I feel that we have now got something to celebrate,” said Chris. “We are Marston’s regional pub of the year, we are sitting at 70 per cent over expectations and we have got that community feel back. We have been able to stabilise the place.
“From where the Twa Dogs was to where it is now, it’s such a massive difference.
“We are engaging with the locals and not trying to alienate people and we are not running the pub with an iron fist, so to speak. Keswick is a tight-knit community and people speak.
“We have got good food back on consistently and we are now one of the more popular places in the area for Sunday lunch and by the second week of February we were fully booked for Christmas Day. That has to be seen as something we are doing right.”
The party will be held on Saturday April 27, with live music from Emily Richardson, buffet and birthday cake.
